On 16th of June, the Motorways of the Sea Forum will take place at the Congress Centre Albert Borschette in Brussels (Event by invitation).
This event is another step of the developmental path of the Motorways of the Sea Detailed Implementation Plan: indeed in June 2016, Mr. Brian Simpson OBE presented at the European Parliament the Motorways of the Sea Detailed Implementation Plan based on the outcomes of the three MoS Fora, held in the previous months, that focused on the three MoS Pillars identified by the EU Motorways of the Sea Coordinator – Environment; Integration of Maritime Transport in the Logistics Chain; Maritime Safety, Traffic Management, Human Element/Training.
In order to improve the transport services that are integrated in the logistics chain and cover all type of maritime freight operation, Motorways of the Sea will concentrate his attention to the reduction of land transport congestion, to the increase of use of more sustainable modes of transport, to the increase of transport efficiency and effectiveness and to the improvement of the accessibility to peripheral regions.
To better define the priorities and the future strategies of the Motorways of the Sea, the main actors will be called to attend the Motorways of the Sea Forum on 16th of June with the aim of collecting the industry needs, both from players already involved into MoS Projects and from industry stakeholders.
Mr. Brian Simpson OBE will welcome the attendees at the event, presenting the updates on MoS policy towards the political DIP. The Forum will be structured into two parts: during the morning will be presented the main strategic MoS projects linked to the three MoS pillars (co-funded by the CEF programme); while the afternoon session, structured as a round table discussion, will focus on different experiences coming from industry delegates. Mr. Alexio Picco, Business Development and Funding Director – Circle srl (the Italian leader of the Consortium in charge of the STUDY ON THE TEN-T MOTORWAYS OF THE SEA HORIZONTAL PRIORITY), will moderate the MoS project session; while Mr. José Anselmo, former DG MOVE official and Advisor to the European Coordinator for Motorways of the Sea, will be the moderator of the Industry session.
