They talked about the importance of the initiative for the new Silk Road and the One Belt One Road Initiative. At the meeting with the President of China People’s Alliance for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Li Xiaolin, Minister Bratusek emphasized the importance of cooperation between countries and also pointed to the numerous possibilities of deepening economic and political cooperation between China and Slovenia.
On the last day of the working visit, Minister Bratuska met with the management of COSCO, the largest shipping company, which is an important partner of Luka Koper (port). The Minister agreed to consolidate cooperation and presented the infrastructure plans of the state in this area, in particular, the construction of the second rail track between Koper and Divača, which will greatly increase the competitiveness of the port of Koper. Dimitrij Zadel, President of the Management Board of the Port of Koper, presented the development potential of Luka Koper.
The minister also visited the Slovenian embassy in Beijing and in the afternoon held a bilateral meeting with current Chinese transport minister Li Xiaopeng.
They talked about the geostrategic characteristics that Slovenia has in terms of its position, which is an important advantage in the area of Central and Eastern Europe. China is paying great attention to this area in the context of the 17 + 1 initiative, and more recently Silk Road, or the One Belt One Road initiative. Minister Li thanked for the active participation of Slovenia in both projects. He explained the modus operandi of transport policies in China, as modern infrastructure is one of the cornerstones of China’s rapid development and the rise of its economy. The Chinese minister highlighted the importance of the geo-strategic position of Slovenia and called for deepening the cooperation of countries in the infrastructure sector. At the end of the conversation, Minister Bratusek invited her Chinese counterpart to visit Slovenia.
Minister Bratus concluded a working visit to China in a meeting with representatives of the International Economic and Technical Cooperation Association in Beijing.
