Shell’s Gasnor opens LNG facility in Gibraltar

Tag Cloud

Gasnor, a Norwegian natural gas company, and a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell plc has announced the opening of a new liquified natural gas (LNG) terminal in Gibraltar.

The 80-megawatt (MW) gas terminal is part of a deal between Shell and the Gibraltar government in 2016, whereby the government aims to adopt clean energy to replace diesel in the territory.

The Gasnor-operated facility will receive twice-monthly deliveries.

Liquefied natural gas is widely considered as the preferred fuel in the future, due to reduced emission levels, and will help shipping and ports achieve lower emission targets.
