The 80-megawatt (MW) gas terminal is part of a deal between Shell and the Gibraltar government in 2016, whereby the government aims to adopt clean energy to replace diesel in the territory.
The Gasnor-operated facility will receive twice-monthly deliveries.
Liquefied natural gas is widely considered as the preferred fuel in the future, due to reduced emission levels, and will help shipping and ports achieve lower emission targets.
