Genoa, Italy, November 2018 – MSC Cruises, the largest private cruise company in the world, is preparing to close 2018 and inaugurate 2019 by setting new passenger traffic records in Genoa, its “home port” where it moves the highest number of cruise passengers in the world.

In 2018 there will be 992,000 passengers, up 12% compared to 882,000 in 2017, for a total of 174 calls. And in 2019 the trend will even improve thanks to the arrival of two new flagships – MSC Bellissima and MSC Grandiosa – that will both be based in Genoa, bringing the total number of cruise passengers handled by MSC to about 1.1 million (+10%), for a total of 195 calls (+12%).

In the two-year period 2018-2019, the traffic generated by the company in Genoa will increase by about 24%, equal to one and a half times the rate of growth on the Italian cruise market.
