The World Maritime University is announcing a call for papers for the International Conference on Maritime Energy Management (MARENER 2017), to be held from 24 to 25 January 2017 at WMU in Malmö, Sweden.
“WMU is pleased to announce this important international event that directly supports the University’s commitment to the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, in particular Goal 7: Ensure access to affordable, reliable sustainable and modern energy for all. As reflected in the 2016 World Maritime Day Theme, Shipping: indispensable to the world, the shipping industry is critical to the world economy and it also has a responsibility to provide energy efficient and environmentally friendly methods of transporting goods around the globe. Through this international conference, research, and a new MSc specialization in Maritime Energy Management, WMU is contributing to the aim of achieving a sustainable future for the maritime industry and the planet,” stated Dr. Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry, WMU President.
Energy management is a key strategy for energy efficient and environmentally friendly shipping that enhances profitability within a tightening regulatory framework.
