Managerial figure with extensive skills in logistics and business management, optimizes the operation of the Terminal through the functions of planning and programming of integrated logistics flow and through the coordination of resources under his authority. He aims to improve the firm’s performance, he oversees the control of all the operations and matters relating to port facilities.

He/she organises workers’responsibilities, according to the goals and strategy of the company. Working as a logistics manager requires ability to see wholeness and to master it. Responsabilities and economical point of view are emphasized. Marketing skills, personnel management skills, financial administration skills and cost accounting skills are needed. Also legislation related to the trade and business, project administration, scheduling and dividing of the resources must be known. Logistics managers must possess good negotiation, cooperation and communication skills as well as flexibility, organising skills, decision-making skills, language skills and good oral and written articulacy. Further human resources skills are groupwork and customer relations. Also knowledge about different cultures may be useful if logistics manager works in an international company. Logistic managers must also be aware of the environmental standards and aims to diminish environmental effects of the transportation and warehousing. Also IT skills are needed since they may use several IT softwares, for example for financial administration and ERP (enterprise resource planning).

To evaluate whether the process responded to criteria of timeliness

To minimize the presence of stocks and assess the appropriate time for the acquisition

To assess the convenience to outsource suppliers part of the process

To negotiate logistics solutions with providers and suppliers
