The main proponents of European policies on transport and logistics will meet in Piacenza on 15 and 16 February for a debate that will encompass international guidelines, focusing on their application and effects in Italy. A wonderful opportunity to discuss maritime transport with leading representatives of the European Commission, key international players in the field of logistics and industry, and improve understanding of EU transport policy and related funding opportunities.
Attendance is free
After an opening address by official agencies, and an introduction on the subject of the Motorways of the Sea presented by Brian Simpson (EU coordinator), will follow a panel discussion with insights on the TEN-T network corridors, plus funding opportunities for development of infrastructure and ICT systems to improve the efficiency of port/dry port connections. In the afternoon, technological innovation in green shipping will be explored, featuring the presentation of case studies and international projects to curb emissions, with a focus on the use of alternative fuels. Simultaneously, a by-registration only workshop titled “EU funds in support of your business and innovation in the transport and logistics sector” will take place (to receive an invitation contact email@example.com). The day will conclude with a session on sustainable logistics, not just as a slogan, but as a true goal of firms that have invested in this area by combining innovation, the environment and market needs.
The second day will start with a session on the role of logistics centres and intermodal platforms and their integration with the port nodes, followed by a discussion on the issue of viability of river-navigation as an alternative to transport by road or rail. In the afternoon, a session organized in collaboration with Fercargo, will produce a lively debate on the new plan for intermodal transport, investment on infrastructure and TEN-T networks at the service of logistics platforms and ports.
