Terminal San Giorgio orders a crane and studies a new ro-ro approach

Circle S.p.A (“Circle”), a company headed by the homonymous Group specialized in the analysis of processes and in the development of automation solutions and for the digitalization of the port sectors and intermodal logistics, listed on the AIM Italia market, organized and managed by Borsa Italiana confirms and strengthens its presence in the MED area thanks to the full operation of the Milos® TOS system used by Terminal San Giorgio (TSG) in the port of Genoa.

TSG, one of the main multipurpose terminals of the AdSP of the Western Ligurian Sea, manages the entire range of port logistics services: TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit), industrial rolling stock, breakbulk and Roll-on / Roll-off cargo. The peculiarities of the Milos® TOS Suite, used by TSG since 2012 for the customs components, for interoperability with the Port Community System and for automation, now updated and fully operational for all multipurpose operating components, increase and facilitate the logistics and port processes of such a relevant terminal.

Milos® Terminal Operating System (TOS) was designed with the aim of managing administrative, operational and customs operations within a multi-purpose terminal. Milos® TOS is interoperable with other stakeholder systems such as Port System Authorities, rail / intermodal and road transport companies, as well as Shipping Agencies and Shipowners.

Terminal San Giorgio has been operating in the port of Genoa since 2006 and has always pursued ambitious goals in terms of technological innovation. Circle continuously supports TSG for constant and substantial improvement in traffic flows, efficiency and automation, also thanks to the constant development of Circle on Big Data Management, Internet of Things and Supply Chain 4.0.

Circle boasts a solid collaboration with TSG also thanks to the recent agreement between Agence Nationale des Ports (ANP) of Casablanca, AdSP of La Spezia, Terminal del Golfo (TDG), Tarros and Terminal San Giorgio for the implementation of an “International Fast and Secure Trade Lane “, technically coordinated by Circle, which provides for an improvement in terms of efficiency and timing for trade between the European Union and North Africa. The recent renewal between the AdSP and TSG of the concession on the Ponte Somalia area, extended until 2033, further widens the expanding horizon of Terminal San Giorgio, and Circle – through the Mi- lo® TOS package – represents a solid foundation on to build the opportunities of the future.

Luca Abatello, President of Circle, said: “The project was very challenging and ambitious. Before this, there was practically no real multi-purpose TOS. We thank the TSG team that has collaborated in a fruitful and valuable manner in the implementation of the project. And in the coming months, further important changes are planned ».

With this project, which is added to that of the beginning of the year with Samer Seaports & Terminals in Trieste, Circle continues the growth path of its MILOS® suite, as well as the international evolution as outlined in the development plan by here to 2022.

Circle is also involved in the European eBridge and Fenix projects which see important activities in the Port of Genoa and total contributions (for the entire duration of European projects) for Circle of € 1.975 million.
